ASHIB Screening, 29/09/12 · Features

On 29th September 2012 the 4th A STRANGE HOUR IN BUDAPEST screening event was held at Kino Lucerna in Prague.

I was really looking forward to this event having the prospect of meeting again a few people I hadn't seen for more than two years since the 'SELECTED' events.

Attending this screening was my third time in Prague with RECOIL after the SUBHUMAN release party (held exactly 5 years earlier) in 2007 and the 'SELECTED' event in April 2010.

After my arrival at Prague's main train station I spent some time with sightseeing in the old impressive centre of Prague. In late evening Igor (webmaster of Black Box) and a friend of him called Tom picked me up and after dropping our luggage in the flat (Igor was so kind to offer me accommodation) we were heading for Lucerna cinema.

What a beautiful venue! Alan was pretty amazed by that cinema pointing out that all screening events should happen in a place like this.

We hit the cinema's bar and met Thorsten (member of DEPMOD message board) there and had our first drink. Later Oliver (webmaster of Shunt) arrived with his eldest daughter and joined us. In this bar area was also the merchandise stand and the desk for the signing session to happen after the screening and Q&A session.

At 8pm the film was presented and watching the Blu-ray on a large screen with its soundtrack at a proper loudness level was a very nice experience - unfortunately the surround effect wasn't recognizable for us but I think that was due to the fact that we were sitting in the 2nd row.

Following the end of the screening Alan entered the stage and the Q&A session started with a Czech translator to his side.

After the session Oli, Igor, Thorsten and me got backstage to Britt who was taking care of little Clara there. We had a nice chat there and Alan came across from time to time during his breaks of signing and photographing together with fans.

When the signing ended after approx. 3 hours - followed by a last talk all together back stage - the Wilder family left.

Igor and myself had another nice talk with some beers at Lucerna's bar area enjoying the remaining time at this beautiful venue.
